Orgyen Zangpo (Tim Bateson) received an Associates Degree from Central Oregon Community College. Pursued a course of studies in computer science and religious studies at the University of Santa Barbara.
Kunzang Lama has studied and practiced Buddhism since the age of seventeen. His studies began with a thorough investigation of the Japanese Soto Zen meditation tradition over the course of several years and later turned to Tibetan Buddhism. In 2003, Orgyen Zangpo had the excellent fortune to meet his root Guru, Great Perfection of Wisdom Lineage holder Dzogchen Khenpo Choga Rinpoche.
In 2008, He realized his long-held aspiration to receive the preliminary monastic vows from his kind teacher. Since that time he has received well over 5000 hours of Dharma teacher training during numerous Dzogchen Buddha Path retreats and 7 multi-month Internships both as a student and director. In 2014, Kunzang Lama was awarded the Varya Yoga Practitioner Degree from the Dzogchen Shri Singha Foundation. In 2014, Kunzang Lama was authorized by Dzogchen Khenpo Choga Rinpoche as an Archarya Lama, a Buddhist Teacher.
Kunzang Lama currently resides at the Dzogchen Retreat Center in order to dedicate his life to establishing the authentic Buddhist system and perpetuating the Dzogchen Lineage. His activities include Buddhist text translation support and teaching Dharma in public and retreat settings both home and abroad. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Dzogchen Shri Singha Foundation in the role of Treasurer.
Lamas primary goals are to ensure that the authentic teachings of Buddha are stably and irreversibly established throughout the world, to build numerous Dharma center, temples and universities, to teach and guide others in Dharma to help bring them the attainment of all temporary and ultimate happiness, and to swiftly realize Awakened Omniscience, Buddha, in this very life for the benefit of all beings.
