The Dzogchen Shri Singha Retreat Institute
Acting under the direction of His Holiness Penor Rinpoche, Supreme Head of the Nyingma Tradition, and Venerable Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, Dzogchen Khenpo Choga Rinpoche has begun to plan and build the International Dzogchen Shri Singha Buddhist Retreat Institute in Nepal, the birthplace of our supreme Dharma teacher, Buddha Shakyamuni. Rinpoche sincerely wishes that this retreat institute will be of genuine benefit to practitioners of the Dzogchen Lineage worldwide.
The retreat institute is being built in holy Godhavari, ten kilometers east of Kathmandu. There are twenty-four holy places of the Dakinis in this world and holy Godhavari is one of the largest. It is an extremely beautiful, serene, and inspiring valley, the center of a national park. It is also the most important sacred place of Vajrayogini.
Following the instructions of Dzogchen master Chatral Rinpoche, Dzogchen Khenpo Choga Rinpoche purchased land in the holy Godhavari Valley for the Retreat Institute.
Plans for the facility include a Dharma temple, a Rinpoche’s house, sixty-four retreat rooms, a meditation center, a medical building, a pilgrimage services office, a library, a translation office, a large hall for teachings, an administrative office, two kitchens, and sixteen bathrooms. The estimated total budget to build the International Dzogchen Shri Singha Buddhist Retreat Institute as described above is $350,000 USD. The construction of the Retreat Institute in Nepal began in 2001. Completion costs are currently about $250,000 USD.
You are welcome to sponsor one or more rooms for any amount you like. Retreat rooms will be named after donors who contribute $5,000 USD or more. Retreatants will continually dedicate prayers to these generous supporters. To anyone who would like to offer financial support for the construction, we rejoice and offer our thanks. Everyone is welcome to make a pilgrimage to Nepal to visit the Retreat Institute.
